Political Effects

01/01/1831

The political effects from the Trail of Tears was not much. President Andrew Jackson was in session, as a democratic, and he was condemned for his decision of relocation for Native Americans. Just a year into his presidency, Jackson signed the Indian Removal Act. The efforts from Jackson could be seen through his speeches, documents, and treaties. One document is listed below.

Some citizens had thought Jackson was one of the best presidents, as the 7th president of the United States. Others had said he was ill-tempered, hot-headed, and would only selfishly act out of impulse. He was a cruel man who only thought for the European nation, and not anyone else. When Jackson forced numerous citizens to walk the Trail of Tears, these citizens were leaving everything behind. Worshipping places, certain religious practices, their lakes, and almost everything the Indian tribes made for themselves. It was shocking, disturbing, and disgusting. Truly a low point in history. When Jackson forced citizens to walk the trail of tears, they did everything they could. White settlers would burn down cattle the Indians had, kill animals, and burn down houses. Jackson knew this, and still aided in it happening.
