Economic Effects

01/01/1831

The economic effects from the Trail of Tears really focuses on the "after" aspect. The migration of the Cherokee nation opened prime land to cotton farmers. This severely increased cotton production and the American economy. Due to this, the migration of southerners expanded, and so did slavery. Increased cotton production meant increased labor on slaves. Southerners moved near the Mississippi River because it was a prime spot for picking cotton.

Above is a video of Will Chavez, who rides the Trail of Tears with his crew for respect. It is a heartwarming video I would watch to get more insight on the truth behind the Trail of Tears. There is another video with an Interview with a man from the Seminole Tribe. It is very heartbreaking, but important to learn. These families fought for their lives, and it is clear what they had to go through. Please watch.
